“GCMHP conducted an awareness session for mothers entitled "Mechanisms for dealing with children's feelings"”

GCMHP conducted an awareness session for mothers of orphans at the Al-Baraka Orphanage Camp in Khan Younis. The session, entitled "How to Deal with Your Children's Emotions," aimed to enhance the mothers' understanding of healthy coping mechanisms for their children's emotions and to support children's mental health amidst daily pressures and challenges. The session included a practical demonstration on understanding children's emotional states and responding positively to them, as well as methods for building upon children's strengths and leveraging them to improve their psychological and emotional well-being.

The importance of recognizing indicators that warrant specialized psychological intervention was also highlighted. Participants were introduced to GCMHP's services and how to access them, including the free telephone counseling service at 1800222333. The session incorporated a range of interactive activities that fostered active participation and emotional release. A safe space was created for discussion and emotional expression, allowing participants to share their experiences and challenges in raising their children. A simple physical activity using numbers was also conducted to break the ice, energize participation, and create a positive atmosphere conducive to learning and interaction.

In addition, a question box was used as an interactive tool to provide a comfortable and safe space for asking questions. The most frequently asked questions were discussed, and practical and professional answers were provided, taking into account the community context and the needs of the families.

The meeting witnessed a remarkable positive response from the participants, who demonstrated a clear interest in the content presented. At the end of the activity, they expressed their gratitude to GCMHP for organizing the meeting and affirmed their desire to share the knowledge and information with other mothers in the local community.
