Gaza Community Mental Health Programme (GCMHP) recently received Dr. Zahra Lijgers, Director of Mental Health Activities at Médecins Sans Frontières(MSF)–France,atitsheadquartersinGazaCity.Thedelegation was welcomed by Ms. Rawia Hamam, Director of the Training and Research Department, and Dr. Amal Abu Abada, Director of Community Centers. The visit took place amid the exceptional humanitarian conditions in Gaza.
During the meeting, GCMHP presented its key mental health and psychosocial services and highlighted the deteriorating psychological situation due to the ongoing conflict, as well as the significant challenges and pressures faced by professional teams in delivering humanitarian support. The discussions also focused on strengthening collaboration between GCMHP and MSF-France to enhance mental health services and respond to the growing needs of the population during the ongoing crisis. This visit is part of GCMHP’s continued efforts to reinforce international partnerships and share expertise, supporting the resilience of the mental health system in Gaza and addressing urgent community needs.
