GCMHP implemented a group psychosocial support session for young men, entitled "Understanding and Consciously Managing Stress," targeted adolescents aged 15-18 and included 19 participants.
The session was conducted interactively, introducing the concept of stress and its sources, and discussing its most prominent physical, mental, and behavioral signs through real-life examples from the participants' experiences.
Following this, participants were trained in practical stress management skills, beginning with deep breathing exercises to calm tension, followed by using countdown timers to help regulate emotions. They then applied the traffic light technique (Stop-Think-Act) to promote conscious responses instead of impulsive reactions, and practiced physical release exercises to relieve physical tension. A supportive recreational activity was also implemented, which helped to enhance interaction and reduce stress.
Participants demonstrated good engagement throughout the session and actively participated in the exercises. They showed improved calmness and focus by the end of the session, and also gained an understanding of practical strategies for managing stress.
