“Public meetings on "Managing Negative Emotions (Fear, Sadness, Anger): From Understanding to Empowerment," GCMHP conducted two awareness sessions for women in displacement camps”

Under the difficult circumstances and ongoing pressures faced by women, GCMHP conducted two awareness sessions, each attended by 20 women, to dismantle misconceptions surrounding negative emotions. The sessions emphasized that feeling fear, sadness, or anger is not a sign of weakness, but rather a natural response to abnormal circumstances. The sessions aimed to equip women with the necessary psychological tools to understand the "language of emotions" and how to manage them consciously, instead of suppressing them, which can lead to serious physical and psychological consequences. The sessions also stressed that a woman's psychological well-being is the cornerstone of the stability of the entire family.

Several activities were conducted, including a "Message from My Feelings" activity, a brainstorming session, muscle relaxation exercises, and square breathing exercises. During the meeting, GCMHP’s specialized services for women and children were introduced, and the "free hotline" was highlighted as a quick and confidential solution for emergencies, and educational materials on "Women's Mental Health" were distributed.

At the end of the meetings, a noticeable emotional release was observed among the participants as they shared their experiences of loss and fear. They also demonstrated an understanding of the importance of not suppressing negative emotions to avoid emotional breakdowns and learned simple anger management techniques that can be applied at home. This led to a greater awareness of the need to seek professional help when feeling unable to manage emotions.
