Gaza Community Mental Health Programme conducted a workshop and a special honoring ceremony for video spots competition for talented Youth

Gaza Community Mental Health Programme conducted a workshop entitled "Aware Society and Supportive Family" and a special honoring ceremony for video spots competition for talented Youth. The competition was funded by Trocaire. The event was in the participation of Dr. Mohammed Abu Shahla, Chairman of GCMHP's Board of Directors and Dr. Yasser Abu Jamei, Director General and a number of Board of Directors. In addition to, representatives of governmental, civil, women and human rights institutions.

The workshop started with a welcoming speech by Dr. Abu Jamei, where he praised the role of women in the Palestinian society. He talked about GCMHP's experience and its great role in eliminating violence against women in the past 27 years.

During the workshop, Ms. Amal Siam, Director of  Women's Affairs Center highlighted the vital and effective role of women in the Palestinian community. She emphasized the importance of empowering women and giving them their rights.

In his turn, Mr. Raji Sourani, Director of the Palestinian Center for Human Rights  talked about women's rights, which are guaranteed by all international norms and laws. Mr. Sourani greeted the spirit of the late Dr. Eyad Al-Sarraj and his great role in establishing GCMHP.

Moreover, Ms. Zahia Al-Qarra, a Psychologist at GCMHP talked about GCMHP's experience during the last 27 years. She highlighted the important achievements of the Programme and its policies to support women's rights. She also talked about the gender policy adopted by GCMHP which is implemented in all activities. Ms. Al-Qarra added that the number of people who spoke by phone during the year 2017 was 914 people, 66.6% of them were women.

In his turn, Mr. Mahmoud Abu Galwa, a member of  the video spots competition jury, gave a detailed explanation of the competition, its stages, objectives and the value of each prize. He stressed on the importance of these films in raising awareness to help eliminate violence against women in the Palestinian community.

At the end of the workshop, the winners in the competition were announced. The first prize was handed to Lahza team who received 1000$. The second prize was handed to Afnan Al-Qatrawi who received 700$. The third prize was handed to Abdullah Hammad team who received 400$.
