Gaza Community Mental Health Programme held a technical meeting with the consortium of donors. The meeting consisted of Consulate General of Sweden, the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC), the Representative Office of Norway to the Palestinian Authority and the representative of the Consulate General of Sweden in Jerusalem via telephone. The meeting was attended by Dr. Mohammed Abu shahla, Chairman of the Board of Directors of GCMHP, Dr. Yasser Abu Jamei, the Director General and a number of head of departments and units.
At the beginning of the meeting, Dr. Abu Shahla, welcomed the participants, stressing on the importance of the cooperation with the consortium of donors. He highlighted the difficult political, social, and economic conditions that the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip are experiencing recently.
During the meeting, Mrs. Maria Gilbinderaz, Director of the SDC, and the consortium of donors coordinator, expressed her happiness for visiting and meeting with GCMHP management. She also thanked the consortium of donors partners for their cooperation and efforts. Ms. Gilbernderaz praised GCMHP's work despite the difficult circumstances the Palestinians in Gaza Strip are experiencing.
In his turn, Dr. Abu Jamei talked about the latest developments in the Gaza Strip, especially after the Palestinian reconciliation.
"People have lots of hope in the reconciliation and if it fails it will affect the psychological status of the people", Dr. Abu Jamei added.
Moreover, a number of issues were discussed regarding the extension of the current 2018 strategic plan, the revised budget for 2017 and the budget of 2018. In addition to, the latest developments on the construction of GCMHP's permanent headquarter.
At the end of the meeting, the Programme thanked the donors for their commitment to continue supporting GCMHP. It was also agreed to communicate during the coming period on the preparation of the next strategic plan for the years 2019-2021.
