A delegation from the South African Representative Office in the State of Palestine visited Gaza Community Mental Health Programme
A delegation from the South African Representative Office in the State of Palestine visited Gaza Community Mental Health Programme. The delegation consisted of His Excellency Ambassador Mr. Ashraf Suliman, Mrs. Fatima Paruk, the Ambassador’s Spouse, Mr. Patrick Jacobs, Political Counsellor and Mr. Simon Mmutle, First Secretary at the South African Representative Office. The delegation met with Dr. Yasser Abu Jamei, Director General of GCMHP, Ms. Rawya Hamam, Director of the Training and Research Department and Mr. Hassan Zeyada, Director of Gaza Community Center. The meeting took place at Gaza Community Center.
Dr. Abu Jamei welcomed the delegation, highlighting the activities and services provided by GCMHP to the Palestinian community for the last 27 years since its establishment by the late Dr. Eyad Al-Sarraj. Dr. Abu Jamei talked about the mutual cooperation between GCMHP and the Stellenbosch University in South Africa in the training and scientific research field. He also discussed ways to strengthen this cooperation in the future, especially with universities and academic institutions in South Africa.
During the meeting, Dr. Abu Jamei discussed the hard living conditions that people in Gaza are experiencing and its impact on their mental health.
Moreover, GCMHP staff accompanied the delegation for a tour at Gaza Community Center to provide them with information about the clinical services provided by the Programme.
At the end of the meeting, Dr. Abu Jamei thanked the delegation for their visit and the continuous support to the Palestinian people.
