In cooperation with the counselling unit at Al Shifa Hospital, the Training and Scientific Research Department at GCMHP finalized a training course entitled" Psychological First Aid- Primary Detection and Referral". The participants in this training were 14 trainees working in the counselling unit at Al Shifa hospital.
The finalization of the training course was in the presence of Ms. Enas Jouda, Head of the Training and Capacity Building Unit at GCMHP, Ms. Tahreer Safi, officer at the Counselling Unit at Al Shifa hospital, Dr. Murad Abed, Trainer at GCMHP and Ms. Eman Al Akhras , Trainer at GCMHP.
The four- day training which was conducted by GCMHP professionals consisted of 16 training hours. It discussed different important topics including: psychological first aid, early detection and case referral, discussion of the Programme's referral form , in addition to exchanging experiences between the Programme and Al Shifa Hospital in regards to primary emergency intervention.
During the training course, the trainers used several techniques including: team work, role play and stress management techniques.
Moreover, Ms, Jouda, expressed her happiness for conducting this training course. She assured it's very important for the trainees to apply what they have learnt from the training in their work. Ms. Jouda stressed on the importance of enhancing cooperation and coordination between the Programme and the counselling unit at Al Shifa hospital.
In her turn, Ms. Safi appreciated the efforts exerted by GCMHP in providing mental health services to the Palestinian community. She thanked the Programme for conducting this training course, calling for more cooperation between the Programme and the counselling unit.
